Your first week
The order to do things in, from an empty shop to taking money.
A new shop starts closed, so you can set it up without anyone watching. Work through this list and open the doors at the end.
Day one: the basics
- Settings, Company. Your legal name, address, chamber of commerce number and VAT number. Invoices and your legal pages read these, so get them right once.
- Settings, Website, Branding. Logo (a light and a dark version), favicon, and the name buyers see.
- Settings, Tax & invoicing. Your default VAT rate, and whether the prices you type include VAT or not. Changing this later means re-checking every price.
Day two: what you sell
- Stock, Suppliers. Add the wholesalers you buy from.
- Products, Categories and Collections. Categories are what a thing is (booster box, single pack, deck). Collections are the set it belongs to. Buyers filter on both.
- Products. Add a few by hand to learn the form, or import a spreadsheet if you already have a list.
- Stock, Purchases. Enter what you bought and at what price. Stock only exists inside a purchase, so this is also where your margin comes from.
Day three: money and shipping
- Integrations, Mollie. Connect your account and leave test mode on.
- Settings, Shipping. Which countries you ship to, and your shipping methods with prices.
- Integrations, MyParcel. Optional but worth it: labels straight from an order.
Day four: the shop itself
- Content, Pages. Your about page, your terms and your FAQ. The legal pages are already there and fill in your company details by themselves; read them and adjust.
- Settings, Mail. Check the templates. Every mail your buyers get is written here.
- Place a test order in your own shop, pay it with Mollie's test screen, and follow it all the way to a label.
Day five: open
- Settings, Website, Availability. Switch the shop online.
- Switch Mollie to live when you are ready to take real money.
